What You Should Know About Flameproofing and Special Events
Temporary events can introduce scenery, fabric, tents, and decorations that still require careful fire-safety review even when installed for only a short time.

Temporary Does Not Mean Exempt
Promotional events, trade shows, performances, and seasonal installations may use combustible artistic materials in spaces crowded with guests. Organizers should determine whether each item is inherently resistant, requires approved treatment, or qualifies for a narrowly defined exemption supported by acceptable testing and documentation.
Begin the review before installation. Confirm venue rules, FDNY requirements, exit layouts, occupancy limits, electrical needs, and emergency responsibilities. Keep affidavits and test reports available on site, and make sure later changes to the decorations do not invalidate the original review.
Plan for Compliance and Safety
Requirements depend on the venue, material, installation, and current rules. Have a qualified professional review the project, retain all product and treatment records, and coordinate flameproofing with the rest of the property's fire-safety plan.
